About

So what's all this Stramash about then?

As a Scottish football fan of a certain age (and a keen designer) I sat down and started illustrating some cult heroes that graced the Scottish game.

This started purely for personal amusement. There was something strangely satisfying about making icon-art based on the facial structure of Drew Busby.

As I continued doodling and sketching various players of a bygone era, I thought somebody, somewhere might like to honour these legends on a t-shirt, tote bag or tea mug...

But maybe not.

I could be part of a dying breed in my love for the players and fashions of Scottish football from a bygone age. If you, like me, listen to the fantastic Off The Ball radio show you're probably somewhat of a nostalgist for the 'old days' of Scottish football.

As I look at the players I've been attracted to for doodling, I see a few trends emerge. I seem to have my own parameters for players that fall into the 'cult hero' bracket:

  • They may have been outrageously talented, but didnae give a f*ck. Or they did, but sporadically. And on their terms. And around their 'lifestyle choices'.
  • They may have been limited in footballing talent, but had a strong moustache game.
  • They may never have driven Ferraris, but they drove us wild with their 'get stuck in' attitude.
  • The only 6 pack they had was the one in the fridge of the Tennent's variety with wifies on the sides of the tins.

I invest my time and love in these illustrations and I hope real Scottish footy fans will appreciate them.

Enjoy the Stramash!
